Click 2 Crop - help utility for Mazaika.
Image above was taken with a 4 megapixel digital camera. It is quite large and not very interesting. If we'll use it "as is" for a mosaic tile it will be just like a brown rectangle: no detailes, no faces. Tiles are small. All details will be gone.
Click 2 Crop was developed as a help utility for image mosaic program Mazaika. This is a very handy utility when you need a mosaic but do not have enough pictures.
For long, people have been sending me their photographs requesting a mosaic but not many people have the required number of pictures needed to make a good mosaic.
I have been using this utility to increase the number of images multifold by "generating" images from their images. If someone sends me 200 images (or even less) and I needed a 1,000 (or even more), I simply "create" smaller images using parts of the larger images.
For example, an image of a few persons standing in front of a picturesque background can be split into quite a few tiles:
Here are the tiles that were made from the above photo. They where cropped and saved with only one click per a tile. They are smaller than original photo but they are big enough for a tiles. And we can see small detailes and people faces on them.
- The original photo as it is but cropped to tile proportions.
- Crop the background to get an enlarged view of every person.
- Crop out faces of all persons.
- Crop our persons separately, full length.
- Make as many interesting crops out the background.
- Et cetera...
Now we have a twelve tiles instead of one. And, this is just an example, you can create as many images as you need. You just need to go crazy with your imagination.
If you will try to make this procedure with general purpose image editor like a PhotoShop it will takes about a couple of minutes because for every crop you'll need to:
- Open image;
- Select crop area;
- Make a crop;
- Save with new file name;
- Repeat above 4 items 12 times for 12 tiles;
- Select crop area;
- Double click on image to crop and save;
